I’m really so excited for the next few months because there is just so much in the works.
First, I’m a year out from the leaving the public school system and things couldn’t be going better. Well, they always could go a little better, but things really are great. It’s amazing what happens when you commit your time and energy to something. It truly will manifest itself in your life. Business couldn’t be better, I’m training harder than ever, and the fruits of my efforts are being shown in all aspects of my life.
So, what’s next? Well, right now I’m currently working with a few individuals to develop a home for my blog. A website that will house my blog, links to the companies I work with, and a home for all things CrossFit and Fitness lifestyle related. I’m basically trying to brand myself and I’m really kind of excited about it!
This past Saturday I attended Prs for Pulse, a charity event to benefit the families and victims of the Orlando shooting. The competition took place at South Orlando CrossFit, the closest gym to Pulse night club, the location of the shooting. My friend Casey and I drove down on Saturday morning for the one day, one workout, team event.
Man, I must say, the CrossFit community never ceases to amaze me. In a matter of four days, the individuals at South Orlando CrossFit and One EW at Kingspoint put together a pretty killer event. It was extremely well organized, ran on time, and had an amazing environment. To top it off, the workout was a good grinder, perfect for teams of three, and the meaning behind it was well thought out.
I am a right-wing conservative. I grew up in a conservative house and I follow many conservative values. I recently started attending church for the first time in my life. Every Sunday I feel blessed to be able to listen to a good sermon, on a variety of topics, that all help me to become a fuller, more complete human.
Not once at my church have I been told that being gay is “bad” but I do understand that that is part of the “normal” rhetoric for church in the United States and abroad. What happened to “God loves all his children”? More and more I feel certain that people paraphrase the bible, a book written 2,500+ years ago to fit their agenda.
Since Sunday morning’s shooting in Orlando, Florida, my hometown, I’ve been struggling with how I would share my thoughts. As a society, we have stripped a group of people of their undeniable human rights, we’ve limited their exposure in our culture, and we attached a plethora of stigmas to their community.
